I have been designing and making bears for twenty years now. I am always working towards something new and different. I love to watch each creation come alive as I finish each piece. I have traveled to many bear shows and conventions and met many wonderful people through the years. I am a self taught artist, I design and create each piece myself. Most of my creations are one-of-a-kind, or very low editions. I was nominated for a 2007 "TOBY AWARD" for my "CHRISTINA" bear for "TEDDY BEAR AND FRIENDS MAGAZINE" Each design is made with quality materials. I use mohair and alpaca furs mostly, and every once in a while I will find that special vintage coat or wrap that makes a most scrupmtous Teddy. German glass eyes are used in most cases. I hand paint some of them to give that special look to that one of a kind creation. I have also used old shoe buttons for eyes from time to time for that old vintage look. Each piece is fully jointed and some I place armatures in the arms and legs for poseability. I use polyfill, pellets, BB’s and coated glass beads to fill the bodies. The noses and mouths are hand stitched using perle cotton or floss. My husband of 39 years is very used to the crazy bear lady :) We have two wonderful grown children that have grown up with their mom making bears and dolls, and of course home made cookies.... We are very fortunate to have a wonderful 15 year old grand daughter that is sooo.. special. Oh and I can’t forget our dog Sophie a Carrin terrier mix. She doesn’t know that though, she thinks she is a person.....:) I only hope that everyone I come into contact with, if nothing else, can go away with a smile on their face after seeing my creations.
